This farmhouse kitchen is getting a refresh!
We decided to start one last house project this week before spring comes and lures us outside until next wintertime.
Our poor kitchen is looking a little worse for wear lately. After three years of us living here - this space has been heavily used, feeding 7-9 people three meals a day, almost every day, canning hundreds if not thousands of jars of food, butchering and packaging several years worth of meat, processing our daily milking equipment, etc.
It’s time for a little refresh - nothing extravagant. But some fresh paint and wall details. A little rearranging of some cabinets. And definitely a thorough cleaning of every nook and cranny I can reach in the process!
The kitchen is definitely the heart of the homestead. And although we now have “the Scullery” (our secondary kitchen in the garage we built last summertime). Our in house kitchen is still utilized for much of the colder parts of the year - and we should feel inspired and enjoy being in that space too, right!?
I’ll be sure to share a few glimpses of the progress as we make it. And for now, I’m not minding the beauty of all our canned goods temporarily homed on this cabinet in our butler’s pantry.
Speaking of projects…

It’s different each week.
This week’s FREE Homestead Handout is a simple checklist I made to help me organize and plan out all our projects this spring and I thought it might be helpful for some of you too! If you haven’t already, you can download it here for free for the next week.
Our member’s bonus handout this week is all about how we plan, prioritize, and budget for all the different project ideas. It can sometimes feel overwhelming knowing where to start when you are building a farm so I’ve broken down the main processes and methods we use which have helped us to make great progress each season without any debt or (too much) overwhelm.
Become a member here for $5 to see bonuses and access the library of all previous handouts.

Fresh from the Farm
We are officially “back in eggs” with our layer chickens production on the typical spring upswing. They are $5/dozen. First come, first serve. Please reach out if you need some!
We are also still taking deposits for our 2023 pasture-raised, non-GMO chicken. We are currently about 50% sold for the year, and our first batch of chicks isn’t coming until the end of the month!
And finally, don’t forget our first on-farm class, Introduction to Organic Gardening, is only 6 weeks away. This is a great class for those new to gardening, looking to get hands on experience and advice on natural growing methods.
As always, thank you for all your support and encouragement and for allowing us to share our lives with you!
