How about a garden tour!
Come tour the garden!
It’s no doubt this gardening season has been a challenge so far… with frost up until the 28th of May, then nearly 10 days of 90 degrees, and now nighttime temps dipping back into the 40’s - it’s been weather whiplash! We also went a whole month here with under a half inch of rain where normally we would have 5-6 inches.
Growing food will keep you guessing! There’s only so much you can control and you just do the best you can.
Despite the challenging start to the season - the 2023 garden is officially (mostly) in and looking quite lovely. Though the real joy comes during the harvest time!
What I’m Most Excited About
My goal this year was to steward my main garden better than ever - that means managing the weeds (with various deep mulch and landscape fabric) and interplanting lots of flowers and herbs within my annual crops.
So far I’m on track - and I was even blessed to have Tommy and our older boys install the irrigation system I purchased 2 years ago and never did anything with. Not having to water by hand will literally save me multiple hours every week so I can spend more time pruning, succession planting, harvesting, and enjoying this space!
If you want to watch a full video walk through of the entire space - I made a video you can watch here!
Let me know if you have any specific questions about the tour and if you want more about managing weeds without tilling or chemicals - my guide to deep mulch, landscape, and cover crops can be found by RIGHT HERE!
The only unfortunate part of having a lovely garden is the inevitable reality that I have a very neglected house… we can’t do it all. I’ll never pretend I can!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Blessings from our little homestead to yours,
Beth
Ps. I’m so excited to have so many of you snag your tickets to our event on the farm this fall - It’s going to be an incredible day.
